Reflections on the Romney defeat....

 Inspired by an article found on The Toronto Star.


 The Toronto Star, a newspaper usually far to the left, asks these questions:

America’s Republicans are feeling the sharp sting of rejection in the wake of Mitt Romney’s unsuccessful bid for the presidency. They’ve now failed to win the popular presidential vote in five of the past six elections. That’s beginning to look careless. The backbiting, fault-finding and soul-searching have already begun.
Was Romney the wrong spear-carrier for conservative values? Was the Grand Old Party kneecapped by its Tea Party radicals? Should it water down its small-government, trickle-down economic ideology and get over its obsessions with women’s’ bodies and illegal migrants? Have Republicans somehow failed to recognize that their target voter is no longer a white, Protestant working guy of a certain age? Are they just out of touch?

 Was Romney the wrong spear-carrier for conservative values?

No. Mitt Romney represents the right wing American to a tee. His business success and love for the country's constitution are an inspiration to all the young minds with Republican values. Did he convey the message? You damn right he did.

 
Was the Grand Old Party kneecapped by its Tea Party radicals?

Maybe. Maybe they were seen as extremists. Their values represent a much deeper, older form of conservatism. But did they cause the fall of Mitt Romney? Absolutely not.

  Should it water down its small-government, trickle-down economic ideology and get over its obsessions with women’s’ bodies and illegal migrants?

ABSOLUTELY NOT! Oversized government and illegal immigration are the heart and lungs of the beast destroying America. Illegals commit more crimes in their lifetime than the average born and raised American criminals, and they cost a fortune to cater for in jail, with interprets, special muslim diets, providing for their family on the outside with food stamps and welfare checks, etc etc. That part of the Republican is what appeals to the most people.

 Have Republicans somehow failed to recognize that their target voter is no longer a white, Protestant working guy of a certain age?

YES. And have have thought so for years. Paul Ryan's arrival made me believe that the Republicans finally understood that the gun-toting, red meat-eatin', flag-salutin' right-wingers are no longer the go-to-church-every-Sunday-middle-aged-man-with-1-wife-and-2.6-kids. Was it too little, too late? Again, I have to say yes. But Mitt and Paul ran a VERY HONEST CAMPAIGN, and gave it their all. They stayed true to their beliefs (unlike Obama who flipped-flopped on many issues, surprising even his fan base), right to the bitter end.

 Are they just out of touch?

 Nope. In fact, they connected with people of a new generation, via the social networks, creating a younger, more educated and opinionated fan base, who in return used their Twitter, Facebook, and blogging capacities to promote the candidates,  and to hunt down liberals and Democrats everywhere, challenging their every word and beliefs, in epic proportions. From the single mother working 2 jobs, the small business owner (like myself) who were just INFURIATED by Obama's ''You didn't build this'' crap, to the multinational business operator, the core is now wider and more effective as citizens speak their minds on yesterday's taboo debates: able-bodied persons on welfare, illegal aliens taking jobs away from tax-paying Americans. They shop more wisely, and are not affraid to show their support to businesses who dared to speak of their political views. Chick-Fil-A comes to mind...........People who were the EXACT OPPOSITE of the ''occupy'' crowd.

All in all, yes, we lost this election, but on the long run, things are looking a whole lot better.

 Many wonder how they might react in the face of crisis but few are able to prove their courage under fire as effectively as one AutoZone employee recently did when just before closing, an armed robber burst into the retailer and forced the worker — a U.S. Air Force veteran — into a back office with his manager.
After the gunman and store manager left to open the safe, this brave employee escaped through a side door to retrieve a handgun from his vehicle. He returned and demanded the robber drop his weapon, at which point the timid criminal took off on foot.

Looking at the prize-- American By Birth

Not trying to re-hash any particular reason as to why Obama won the election..
But at the same time I want to reply to a op-ed piece Herman Cain wrote as to what exactly those who voted for Obama and his progressive ideas, received.
In that article, Cain asks if those voters run their finances without a budget, or at least some idea of how they are going to make ends met? He then answers  that he doubt’s they do.
Well Herman, I doubt they do to… have a budget that is.
And here’s why I say such.
First of all a is budget defined as a plan for saving, borrowing and spending.This requires some sort of reliable cash flow to make it work.

Dear Muffin,

Oh, baby girl! Six years ago you were born this day.  You could have fit into a teacup. I was recovering from smoking and surgery and plotting to have just you.

Eight weeks later, the worst night of your life was the best of mine, after a very rocky start. By this time, you fit into a soup pot. The one you traveled in to Petsmart so I could get you all you required to usher you from the litter into your life with us.

A quick word to all the raised eyebrows out there at me buying, not rescuing, I make no apologies for how you came to be mine. I damn near had to out bid you from a man with a pregnant girlfriend bearing a pregnant pug.

Having no clue what I was doing, I broke every rule and you proved a most patient teacher. When Gibson came along and bit me, the trainer revealed the devastating and hilarious truth that it was YOU in fact causing the problems and running the show. She commented, “She’s extremely intelligent, she’s done an excellent job of training you.”

Not much has changed in that regard over the past five years. Gibson died, and that reinforced it. I am not going to get to your last day and rue the day I didn’t make you sit at the corner before crossing the street, or roll over for a cookie.  

Grow old with me Muffin; our best is yet to be.

Showing my pride!

 You may know this already, but I'm a patriot. A real one. I'm proud of my nation, I'm proud of my roots, and I'm proud of what I have become.

I stumbled upon this documentary today, and it reminded me (like I needed it) of who I am. I felt the pride of being a suburb kid again, a suburb kid who couldn't care less about what tomorrow brings. Living every day and night to the fullest.



I was an outcast. A misfit only associating with other misfits. So were these guys.

I was the guy with the waist-length pony tail. The pot smokin', acid dropping, popper sniffin' studded leather wearing guy.  Yep. And even tho I changed paths in my adult life, I regret NOTHING.

But one thing that always stayed with me, is my love of rock music. I'm a conservative, but damn, there's nothing like rocking out to a good rock band.


Like these guys, I was always marginalized by the way I looked, by the way I said things.

Obama’s memo on “insider threats”, By Doug Hagmann

On the day before Thanksgiving, Barack Hussein Obama issued a Presidential Memorandum, or an unofficial directive to the heads of departments and agencies under the executive branch. This Presidential Memorandum, the text of which is only 183 words, directs agency and department heads to establish a program “to deter, detect, and mitigate actions by employees who may represent a threat to national security.”
Much like all of Obama’s other directives, Executive Orders and findings, there is a disturbing level of ambiguity contained within this memorandum. One could correctly state that the obvious intent of this directive is to stop government employees from leaking classified information that would endanger the safety and security of our nation. While true, there appears to be a deliberate lack of specificity concerning the exact elements that constitute such an “insider threat.”

There is, however, a more important aspect to this memorandum that will be undoubtedly missed by many who report on it. It is reflected by a word that appears toward the end of the directive and should be considered the “key” to understanding the intent and action of Barack Hussein Obama. The word is “centrally,” and when it is considered in the context of Obama’s agenda we’ve seen being implemented over the last four years, it is chilling.

The key to understanding this memorandum is to understand that we are witnessing the greatest consolidation of power and control under the Executive branch of the government in recent U.S. history. This consolidation of power makes it possible for a select number of highly political “czars” and appointed officials to observe, control and report on the activities of people within their various departments to the Executive branch. This process creates a closed system of surveillance that cannot be easily penetrated by other branches of our government.
Accordingly, it becomes a self-policing network that has the ability to silence critics and individuals opposing a particular agenda or activity, even if such dissent is lawful. Taken to its extreme, it gives Barack Hussein Obama the ability to redefine what constitutes a threat to the government, including treason. It’s no longer about the rule of law and one’s allegiance to the United States. It’s now about allegiance to the agenda of the Executive branch, assured by active surveillance of government employees by Obama’s hand-picked appointees.
This memorandum quietly inserts yet another plank in the framework for absolute control by Barack Hussein Obama. It is he, not laws enacted by congress or the workings of the judicial branch, who will now determine who and what constitutes an “insider threat.” The mechanisms for reporting such threats are now in place, and actual or perceived threats to our government are to be identified and reported on by the very people he appointed to key government positions. It is the very essence of “Big Brother” within the government itself.
Everyone needs to wake up and understand exactly what’s happening not only in the U.S., but across the world. We are witnessing the consolidation of power that historically precedes a war for absolute control.

I’m hearing the MSM yell out that Barack Obama has a mandate after winning in 2012.  Funny the GOP managed to keep the house by a wide margin and as George Will it noted just about every one of those congressmen won by a larger margin than Obama.

That’s 230+ mandates the media doesn’t want you to see against.

Another thing the media doesn’t want to see  is Senator Kelly Ayotte.  They’ve been hitting the Susan Rice Benghazi business pretty hard throwing brickbats at Senator John McCain and Senator Lindsey Graham over it.  The left has played the “two old white guys” meme to the hit, forgetting that Senator Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) was at that press conference and made points like this:

Let’s also not forget that, I think you all appreciate you don’t end up on every single major Sunday show without affirmatively putting yourself out there of wanting to carry forward a message on behalf of the administration.

Senator Kelly Ayotte is not only a smart accomplished woman, but she is a tall statuesque and beautiful woman.  Normally a person with that description would never be left out of the media stories but she doesn’t fit the meme which must be protected…

…and she is also the highest ranking CONSERVATIVE republican north of NYC so she definitely must not get publicity.

I haven’t talked much about the Brett Kimberlin case lately but the legal gears continues to move and they appear to be rolling right over him and his pals

John Hoge’s latest news in the Virginia case of Aaron Walker v. Brett Kimberlin, et al., is that Walker’s attorney Dan Backer has filed motions for default judgments against Kimberlin’s co-defendants Ron Bryanert and Neal Rauhauser. Backer is requesting that the court in Prince William County schedule the hearing on this motion for Dec. 4, the same date as a hearing on Backer’s motion for procedural sanctions against Kimberlin.

Furthermore, Backer has filed notice that Brett Kimberlin has breached the court’s order on the sealed discovery for the fifth time.

It is perhaps about time to point out the hazards of amateurism illustrated here. As every student of Kimberlin’s criminal career knows, the Speedway Bomber became somewhat renowned as a “jailhouse lawyer” during his 17 years in federal prison, filing more than 100 actions on his own behalf. But what was his success rate? I’m not sure anyone has ever bothered to check.

These cases like most court cases roll slowly forward but they continue to roll and I suspect while Kimberlin & Co were feeling confident once the President was re-elected the wheels of justice keep turning and continued daylight seems to be hazardous to their continued success.

All the boring legal motions btw are findable at the Hogewash site if you’re into that kind of dry legal stuff.

I’ve had Dan Backer, the lawyer currently trouncing the Kimberlin Crew, on the show.  I should have him back before the end of the year if he’s free.

Some sports, people don’t say much about Tom Brady anymore it’s as if he’s passé but not only is his team 7-3 and leading its division but last weekend his offense scored 59 points against the Colts.

Now people might say Indy is overachieving but if you score 59 points in an NFL game against a team that’s 6-3 , either that team is over rated or you’ve still got it.

You know what really gets me about the stupid story of Lindsey Stone who decided it was a good idea to give the finger next to the sign saying “Silence and Respect” at Arlington National Cemetery.  The sheer amounts of stupid acts done in sequence by this woman

1.        Doing the act

2.        Doing it in front of a camera

3.        Posting it on Facebook

And the crowning idiocy in this collection of foolishness, doing all of this on her employers time and an employer’s event, that’s smart!

Now I might understand if a person my age or older still did not appreciate the power of the internet,  but this young lady was born into the internet age, there is no excuse for not understanding how the internet works.  That’s just dumb.

You’ll note that I don’t say a word about the nature of this act, that’s simply because there any person willing to do this either doesn’t know or care that how wrong it is, so why waste my breath explaining it to her?

Speaking of things foolishly done on the net Anderson Cooper is being attacked by the friendly folks of Hamas and their supporters for displaying pictures of Hamas dragging the bodies of summarily executed  supposed “collaborators” on the backs of motorcycles through the streets of Gaza.

Mind you they are not upset about the executions, the dragging of the bodies through the streets or even them being on the net, Pam Geller for example has a huge collection of them on the net, but because it was Anderson Cooper of CNN who tweeted it out.

Cooper tweeting it gives legitimacy to the simple fact that when we are dealing with Hamas and their supports we are dealing with murderous barbarian bastards and people who support murderous barbarian bastards.  If I say it, it doesn’t have the same impact.

Even worse optics for the Pro-Hamas crowd are the people publicly supporting summary execution and declaring those killed “had it coming”.

That’s the totalitarian left for you, they love civil rights and due process and respect as long as you are with them, but if you are not on their side, having your body dragged from the back of the motorcycle is too good for you.

I give Cooper some credit here, I figure the reason why so much of the press kowtows to these murderous bastards is…because they are murderous bastards and they on occasion have to work within their range.

Speaking of Gaza anybody notice that this wasn’t considered a crisis while Hamas was firing rockets into Israel but it became one once Israel started shooting back.  Sort of like the Yon Kippur war, it wasn’t until Israel was about to destroy the Egyptian 3^rd Army that the world decided a cease fire was needed?

All of this is bad for Egypt btw.  As long as Hamas was firing and Israel was not shooting back, they looked great, but if Israel keeps pounding Hamas and Egypt sits back and lets them they lose face in the Arab world and the Muslim Brotherhood looks like the feckless cowards they are.

Still it’s better than going to war with Israel and being utterly destroyed…again.  And if Israel takes Gaza one more time, I’m betting they keep it.

Israel needs to realize that no matter what they do the left and the Arab world will call them murderous and genocidal.  Facts don’t matter.  That being the case they might as well protect themselves as best they can.

Sort of like the GOP.  We could nominate Jon Huntsman on a pro-abortion platform pro-gay marriage platform and he would immediately find himself tagged a racist sexist homophobic misogynistic pig.

That’s the left, it’s what they do.

Mediation has not saved the Twinkie, and liquidation seems to be the next step.

I’m sure the Hostess brands and hopefully the Drakes brands that I like much better will be picked up by somebody but it just goes to show what small amounts of union members can do to 18,500 jobs when they decided to take their ball and go home.

This BTW is a great chance for the right, jobs and layoffs at companies far away have no meaning, but taking away people’s Twinkies, THAT they understand.

Incidentally did you note how the Unions blamed MITT ROMNEY for the Twinkie business?  Can you imagine what they’d be blaming them for if he won?

The most interesting thing about the interviews was the totally opposite experiences we have had as Doctor Who fans in America.  In England everybody has known Doctor Who for three generations it’s part of the culture but here it not.  My experience has always been with a mostly male fan base.  I really knew only one woman who was into Dr. Who but their experience was totally opposite, it was all “chicks” who are the fans they know and were shocked to see so many guys at some events.

Still can’t wait for the next season and the 50^th anniversary.

Changing the Way We Do Business Part II

Another page the Republicans can tear from the Democrats playbook is party leadership and that was pretty evident in the state of Arizona primary elections. Obama’s handpicked Senate candidate Former Surgeon General Richard Carmona, newly minted Democrat who didn’t even vote in the 2010 election ran against Don Bivens, former chair of the Arizona Democratic Party. Standing no chance against the wildly popular Republican Jeff Flake in the general, Bivens immediately withdrew upon “suggestion” as the higher profile Carmona might fare better against Flake.

In sharp contrast, in newly gerrymandered congressional district nine, the good of the party was nowhere to be found. Two existing and respected congressmen, Ben Quayle and David Schweikert were offered the district as incumbent. Schweikert, demurred citing two thirds of his constituency lay in newly formed district six opted to stay put. Quayle, In CD9 facing a bluer district than before, moved into Schweikert’s six and kicked CD9 to the curb.

 Ultimately Quayle lost against Schweikert in the primary but would have easily won both the primary and general in CD9, the details of which are beyond the scope of this blog post.

Meanwhile, in nearby newly named Arizona’s 5^th district, there was an open seat left by Flake running for Senate.  Republicans had two stellar candidates in former Congressman Matt Salmon and former Speaker of Arizona’s House, Kirk Adams. A close race that brought Sarah Palin to town, but any Republican voter could have closed their eyes, pointed and been comfortable with the outcome. Salmon ultimately prevailed in the primary and the general.

Which brings us to the train wreck of CD9, the district designed to favor Democrats, had three such candidates vying for the slot. We had seven, ranging from little to not qualified for the seat in the House of Representatives. Boasting twice the turnout of the Democrats, but spread much thinner, the result took several days to establish.

 In the absence of term limits, the Tea Party’s distain for career politicians is buoying candidates along who have never served at any level and the result was vote siphoning and money wasting. It is completely self-defeating to send such a candidate to Capital Hill.  Upon arrival, the buzzards will circle and the jackals will pounce. The voters who donated, voted and put him there get no meaningful representation from someone trying not to drown.

The Republican candidate Vernon Parker could never jinn up the requisite enthusiasm from a spread thin electorate needed to combat the ultimate winner in the general, pinko hirsute Kristen Sinema who called stay at home mothers leeches. Clearly, corralling the kitty cats would have curbed this caboodle.

The Point to all this is Kirk Adams and Matt Salmon are stellar candidates who I saw coach a weakling opponent through a candidate forum. Ben Quayle and David Schweikert were freshman congressmen with strong, conservative voting records. Why were these four thoroughbreds running against each other while CD9 was left to flounder? The Republican gene pool is deep in Arizona; some Pater Familias from party leadership to redistribute some of this wealth would not have been inappropriate.
