Back when I was in New York before the election there was a question during a debate between Ann Marie Buerkle and Hilary Rosen concerning fracking in NY

What wasn’t known at the time the question was asked was that NY State already had a report on Fracking and the environment commissioned by the state which said this:

The state’s Health Department found in an analysis it prepared early last year that the much-debated drilling technology known as hydrofracking could be conducted safely in New York.

Well this is great news, it’s strange that we are only hearing about this report now, but then again, if it was up to the Cuomo administration we still wouldn’t have heard of it:

“Thanks to a leak from an anonymous insider, we learned Thursday that a report commissioned by the State of New York has given fracking a clean bill of health. The insider ‘did not think it should be kept secret’ and released the document, which is now nearly one year old, to the New York Times.”

I’m sure the fact that Ann Marie Buerkle winning in 2010 by a razor thin margin had nothing to do with it.  After all no governor would withhold a report that could mean jobs statewide just for political reasons.

And surely that kind of thing would not happen on the federal level

The Food and Drug Administration released long-awaited documents Dec. 21 on genetically modified salmon: an assessment of the fish’s potential environmental effects and a preliminary “finding of no significant impact” of the fish on the environment. This brings AquAdvantage salmon — Atlantic salmon that has been modified with a growth hormone gene from chinook salmon so that it reaches maturity faster — a significant step closer to FDA approval.
Astute readers will notice that the recently released documents are dated May 4. So why were they just released Dec. 21 — seven months later?

Well it’s not like they were talking to the political people on the White House side:

The seven month delay, sources within the government say, came after discussions late last spring between Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sibelius’ office and officials linked to Valerie Jarrett at the Executive Office, who were debating the political implications of approving the GM salmon. Genetically modified plants and animals are controversial among the president’s political base, which was thought critical to his reelection efforts during a low point in the president’s popularity.

I wrote for a long time the left was acting like they were in deep trouble pre-election.  Apparently they knew it too and made sure they held back anything that might depress vote from the president’s base.

Jazz Shaw asks a good question:

Obama originally swept into office claiming that the Republicans were the “anti-science party” and he was going to take the politics out science. Entine describes the White House block of the study’s release as, “a direct violation of numerous ethics regulations and possibly of federal laws.” But even if that weren’t the case, it would still be a stunning black eye for the administration which originally claimed it would change “the posture of our federal government from being one of the most anti-science administrations in American history to one that embraces science and technology.”

As time has gone by the left has become more and more dishonorable.

Speaking of things said before an election remember when Barack Obama said he would have more flexibility after the election?  Well he proved it by a nominating Chuck “let the jews pay for it” Hagel for sec of Defense. 

JenniferRubin in the Washington Post opined a week before the pick that it seemed like an odd choice:

President Obama believes in tough sanctions against Iran; Hagel does not. The president insists that he wants good relations with Israel (and thereby can influence its decision-making with regard to Iran); Hagel has displayed a poisonous animosity toward the Jewish state. Hagel has advocated direct negotiations with Hamas; Obama has never gone this far. The difficulty in articulating to foes and friends our positions on an array of issues is greatly magnified when a critical cabinet officials has a long track record of disagreement with the president, or at least what the president says is his current policy.

Well it would be odd if President Obama actually believed these things

Of course some Obama supporters in the media see the Hagel nomination for what it is:

·  As a Republican who criticized President Bush’s policy in Iraq and supported the Afghanistan war, Hagel gives Obama cover to pull troops out of Afghanistan.

·  As a Republican who in 2011 called the Pentagon budget “bloated,” Hagel gives Obama cover to slash military spending, and to redirect money to deficit reduction and investments in Democratic policies.

·  As a Republican who questioned the validity of unilateral sanctions against adversaries like Iran, and who spoke against knee-jerk acquiescence to Israel, Hagel gives Obama room to maneuver against Tehran.

Hagel gives Obama the cover to do the things he really wants to do but didn’t dare say it aloud.

I don’t want to hear a single complaint from any Jewish person who voted for the president.  20 years ago there might have been an excuse for not knowing but in this internet age the only reason to be ignorant of what was coming was to choose to be so.

I won’t laugh at them as lives are at stake, but I will laugh at Obama voters shocked SHOCKED to see the tax increase in the first paychecks of 2013 down 2% due to taxes.  As Twitchy puts it

The harsh reality of crushed unicorn dreams and the bitter smell of regret. As Twitchy reported, Americans started noticing that Obama’s “fair share” claims weren’t so fair and many were shocked … shocked … that their first paychecks of the year were smaller.
The indebted young Twitter user above now says she was just being sarcastic, but plenty of Obama supporters facing smaller paychecks continue to show genuine disenchantment.

Those tweets are solid gold

There are some people who are doing better in these times, people like Bill Richardson:
The U.S. Export-Import Bank recently steered hundreds of millions of dollars in federal loans to Spanish green energy conglomerate Abengoa, which happens to share an advisory board member with the bank.
There was a time when the MSM would have had an interest in this story, but in the age of Obama what happens with Democrats stays in places like the Washington Free Beacon.
I don’t follow college football, but I really have to laugh when I saw my fellow Catholics going nuts over Notre Dame vs Alabama.  A lot of folks were upset when they were crushed by the tide.
I wonder how many of these Catholics were outraged by Obama as the Commencement speaker or by big contributors to Emily’s (Abortion) list on the board?
Where your treasure is that’s where your heart will be.

The NHL players have FINALLY agreed to a deal with the owners ending the lockout

The National Hockey League and the NHL Players' Association struck a tentative agreement early Sunday that may end a three-month lockout of unionized players, league and union officials announced.

 Pat Garofalo at US news is not happy with the deal:

But while fans are surely excited that their favorite teams are returning to the ice (go Devils!), it's a shame that another professional sports lockout was resolved by taking a chunk of hide from the players. And make no mistake: the lockout was about owners trying to extract huge concessions from their employees, and they largely succeeded.

These guys get paid a fortune to play a game, there are literally hundreds of people vying for each of their jobs that they have and they are upset at having to split the money.  You’ll forgive me for not crying for them.

Time Magazine has suddenly discovered that there might be a downside to sex selective abortion

Growing evidence suggests that in countries like India and China, where the ratio of men to women is unnaturally high due to the selective abortion of female fetuses and neglect of girl children, the rates of violence towards women increase. “The sex ratio imbalance directly leads to more sex trafficking and bride buying,”

I don’t see why we should care, haven’t we been told for years these aren’t actually children being aborted?  Mark Steyn who pointed this out years ago says this about the Time article:

The dearth of chicks will be one of the most important and consequential features of the global scene a couple of decades on, and, as I write in After America, “a world full of male frustrations will always find a market for sex slavery.” If American feminists wished to raise awareness of the issues Time is now addressing, they might give it an arresting name like, oh, “the war on women.” But I gather that title’s taken.

Hey it’s not a “war on women” unless the problem can be traced to white republican men or Christians, but maybe if Time blames it on colonialism they can pull it off?

Finally for Christmas I got an excellent book for Christmas Ships of Oak Guns of Iron by Ronald D. Utt and noticed an interesting question from Charles Francis Adams as to when the US became a world class power:

Adams not only says “yes” but dares to specify an exact date and time when the country reached this point:
…To be specific , it was at thirty minutes after six o’clock on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 19th 1812.
It wasn’t Adams quote, but the next two sentences of the author Ronald D. Utt that caught my eye:
Adams did not have to remind his audience what had happened at that specified moment. They all knew, as did every schoolboy in the nation (emphasis mine)

I will wager not one boy in a thousand today knows the significance of that day,  It was the day Issac Hull in USS Constitution destroyed the  HMS Guerriere.

In other words it’s a story of heroes and such stories are not allowed to be celebrated in Modern America as I wrote last week:

A society emulates and it’s children aspire to what it celebrates. A country celebrates greatness, can remain great. A society that celebrates nothing, can’t.
That simple sentence in that book says more about the decline of America than any budget battle or reality show ever can.

Alex Jones, my new patriot hero!

 Piers Morgan, the Brit who wants to come to America to change the way we live, to question the 2nd amendment, met his match a couple of days ago when he interviewed the man responsible for starting a petition with over 100 000 signatures requesting the USA to deport him, Alex Jones.

Morgan is just another bleeding heart liberal Brit who thinks his farts smell of tea and Guinness. He thinks he can come here and argue OUR RIGHTS with his little twisted facts.

May we remind you that in November 2012 Morgan was criticized in the official findings of the Leveson Inquiry, when Lord Leveson stated that comments made in Morgan's testimony about phone hacking "clearly prove is that he was aware that it was taking place in the press as a whole and that he was sufficiently unembarrassed by what was criminal behavior that he was prepared to joke about it"


 As editor of the Mirror, in 1996 Morgan was widely criticized and forced to apologize for the headline "Achtung! Surrender" a day before England met Germany in a semi-final of the Euro '96 football championships.


 In 2000, Morgan was the subject of an investigation after Suzy Jagger wrote a story in The Daily Telegraph revealing that he had bought £20,000 worth of shares in the computer company Viglen soon before the Mirror 's 'City Slickers' column tipped Viglen as a good buy. Morgan was found by the Press Complaints Commission to have breached the Code of Conduct on financial journalism, but kept his job. The 'City Slickers' columnists, Anil Bhoyrul and James Hipwell, were both found to have committed further breaches of the Code, and were sacked before the inquiry. In 2004, further enquiry by the Department of Trade and Industry cleared Morgan from any charges. On 7 December 2005 Bhoyrul and Hipwell were convicted of conspiracy to breach the Financial Services Act. During the trial it emerged that Morgan had bought £67,000 worth of Viglen shares, emptying his bank account and investing under his wife's name too.

 Morgan was fired as Editor of the Daily Mirror on 14 May 2004 after authorizing the newspaper's publication of photographs allegedly showing Iraqi prisoners being abused by British Army soldiers from the Queen's Lancashire Regiment. Within days the photographs were shown to be crude fakes. Under the headline "SORRY.. WE WERE HOAXED", the Mirror responded that it had fallen victim to a "calculated and malicious hoax" and apologized for the publication of the photographs.[

 In 2007, Morgan was filmed falling off a Segway, breaking three ribs. Simon Cowell and others made much of Morgan's previous comment in 2003, in the Daily Mail, after former U.S. President George W. Bush fell off a Segway, that "You'd have to be an idiot to fall off, wouldn't you, Mr. President?


 Morgan is the prime example of a yellow journalist. Committing crimes (hacking) or supporting them.

Could Rand Paul Be Our Next President?

Rand Paul is taking a trip to Israel to see Benjamin Netanyahu and other important figures, and one can only wonder, is he gearing up to take the Democratic machine in 2016. I think he would make a good candidate, and if nominated, would be a large step forward for the Tea Party, who would most likely heavily endorse him. There aren't too many poster children for the Republican Party, so he wouldn't face too much opposition in the primaries. My guess is Jeb Bush will also run, but he won't ge able to win due to his unpopular brother, and he won't take any middle of the road states, due to guilt by association. Maybe Christie will run and possibly Paul Ryan. Now don't worry too much, Barack Obama was relatively unknown until 2008, so there could be someone that none of us know too well. In terms of Democrats, I could see Joe Biden running for president, he's hinted at it a couple of times, and maybe (if he's successful) John Kerry will run. I don't know anything for sure, so this is just a guess, but I'd be willing to bet on what I've said. The only question left is, can a hard right Tea Party candidate like Rand Paul win a general election?

Under the fedora: New Year!

I’m typing this on New Years Eve and while I’m not a drinker I’m thinking it’s is the perfect day to think of Obama’s Second Term.

New Year’s Eve generally is a bingethat ends with big headache and on occasion the company of someone you regret the next morning.  That is going to be America circa 2013 all over.

We asked for it, we’re going to get it.

The fiscal cliff deal is coming (UPDATE it has come) and Zachary Goldfard at the Post pointed out a change in one part of the argument that is being ignored.

R. Glenn Hubbard, dean of the Columbia Business School and an architect of the Bush tax cuts, said it is “deeply ironic” for Democrats to favor extending most of them, given what he called their “visceral” opposition a decade ago.

Personally I think they still oppose them, By the time you read this we will know if a deal is struck.  I figure the re-imposition of those tax increases in such a way that Republicans can be blamed is a two-fer for democrats and their media allies, but if there is a deal and those tax rates are made permanent somewhere in Texas George Bush will be smiling.

John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Joe Lieberman have penned a piece (do people say “penned” anymore?) arguing for our involvement in Syria.

The United States must rally our allies to channel assistance to the newly established Syrian opposition council for distribution in the rebel-held areas. We must provide weapons and other lethal assistance to the opposition military command. And we must impose a no-fly zone in some areas of Syria, to include using the U.S. Patriot missile batteries en route to Turkey, to protect people in northern Syria from Assad’s aerial attacks.
If we remain on the current course, future historians are likely to record the slaughter of innocent Syrians, and the resulting harm done to America’s national interests and moral standing, as a shameful failure of U.S. leadership and one of the darker chapters in our history. That should unsettle us all as we pray for peace and goodwill this holiday season.

I understand the moral argument and it’s a fair point, but on the other end there is the question of aiding an opposition that is highly influenced by Al Qaeda and Islamists.  They are likely to bring in a crew as bad or worse as the last bunch.

In for a penny, in for a pound if America goes in it has to be willing to commit the blood and treasure to keep this from happening.   Like the fiscal mess with the GOP no matter what America does the Islamists and the left will blame us, so we should do what is in our best interests and, despite the crisis, I think our best interests to not intervene in Syria.

Slightly related I found this absolutely hilarious:

Essam al-Erian, deputy head of the Muslim Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party, called on Egyptian Jews to leave Israel to the Palestinians and return to their own homeland…

.."Egyptian Jews should refuse to live under a brutal, bloody and racist occupation stained with war crimes against humanity," Erian said.

I think Egyptian Jews totally agree, that’s why they are living in Israel instead of Egypt.

I find one aspect of the entire Gun debate pretty odd:

Given as stipulated [for the sake of argument]the vast majority of the right is one step away from the cliff of slaughter, might saying: “Next year we’ve coming for your guns” less than two weeks after Andrew Cuomo said “Confiscation could be an option“, be the push to send a bunch of heavily armed Chick-Fil-A eating psychopaths over the edge?
It’s gasoline on a fire ready to engulf the country in flames with only the police, the army and power of the presidency to hold back the impending holocaust of good and decent Obama voters.
Liberals, be afraid, be VERY afraid…

If the gun owners were as dangerous and as scary as our liberal friends tell us, those same liberals would  not risk provoking them this way. 

Strangely enough those same liberals have no problem keeping silent about Islamists who oppress women and slaughter gays.

As Rush Limbaugh said, the left will always tell you who they fear…

Meanwhile speaking ofthe left

The privileged daughter of a prominent city doctor, and her boyfriend — a Harvard grad and Occupy Wall Street activist — have been busted for allegedly having a cache of weapons and a bombmaking explosive in their Greenwich Village apartment.
Morgan Gliedman — who is nine-months pregnant — and her baby daddy, Aaron Greene, 31, also had instructions on making bombs, including a stack of papers with a cover sheet titled, “The Terrorist Encyclopedia,’’ sources told The Post yesterday.
I suspect this will get very little play doesn’t fit the template.  Maybe in twenty years they will serve in congress as reps from NY, after all in case you haven’t noticed from the Black Panthers to the mentors of Obamas Ayers and Dorn the left always seems to embrace their terrorists.

Speaking of the left and terrorists here is some news out of Saudi Arabia

Saudi religious police stormed a house in the Saudi Arabian province of al-Jouf, detaining more than 41 guests for “plotting to celebrate Christmas,” a statement from the police branch released Wednesday night said.
The raid is the latest in a string of religious crackdowns against residents perceived to threaten the country’s strict religious code.
Why do I get the feeling an awful lot of folks on the left would love to do the same here?

Some sports?  The Washington Redskins (5 -11 last year) took the NFC East with a win over the Dallas Cowboys last weekend. The Indianapolis Colts (2-14 last year) won 11 games and picked up the #5 seed in the AFC North.

On twitter somebody sent out the list of predictions for this year from ESPN’s experts.  While the Eagles, Cowboys and Giants were all picked by people to win the division (in fact two “experts” picked the Dallas and Philly respectively to win the Superbowl, not a single person had either Indy or Washington going this far.

The Jets weren’t on any playoff lists but because of the acquisition of Tim Tebow they were all over the media.  When Jeff Sanchez tanked NY rather than start Tebow went with 3^rd stringer Greg McElroy.  When he went down with an injury before the final game they pleased Tebow haters everywhere by putting Sanchez behind center one last time for one last loss.

One might wonder what harm It would have done forTebowto start the final game, the answer is simple:  What would they say if  hewon?That 10^th loss is a small price to pay to avoid the embarrassment of Tim Tebow succeeding even slightly.

Just a reminder, Tim Tebow got the Broncos to the 2^nd round of the playoffs last year, as of right now that’s the same place where Peyton Manning has them.

Of course compared to the entire NHL the Jets are a bunch of geniuses.  At least they had the brains to playthe season and get everyone paid.  In an era of 24/7 entertainment and sports you don’t want to remind people they can do without you.

Finally the Doctor Who Christmas special was excellent, the plot interesting, the setup for the next season really worked and the new credits reminded me of a combination of Jon Pertwee& Tom Baker.

My one issue?  I’m getting sick of the constant “Gay Marriage” messages.  It’s become obligatory to the point where it’s odd if there isn’t a married lesbian lizard lady in Victorian London or a Horse in the old west renamed “Susan” from Joshua whose life choices we needed to respect, or  "thin/fat gay married Anglican marines." It’s almost as bad as the constant time paradoxes lately but in fairness those only became ubiquitous when Moffat became head writer.

Let give everyone a quick history lesson from 1989:

“The idea of bringing politics into Doctor Who was deliberate, but we had to do it very quietly and certainly didn’t shout about it,” said McCoy….Sophie Aldred, who played Ace, the Doctor’s feminist companion, said a shared contempt for right-wing ideology had inspired “a real bonding process” for cast and crew.

I’m not the first to notice,but let me say this:  When the writing goes bad and there were some signs of that in series 6, expect them to go all social issues all the time because when the ideas run out there is always the agenda.

It killed off Dr. Who once,let’s hope it doesn’t happen again.

It looks like John Boehner will be our Speaker again. Why? Why is John Boehner going to be our Speaker again? We are at a constant struggle with our politicians. When our founding fathers set up the United States they intended for the people to be the leader, not the politicians. I'm not very fond of party politics, as I feel that it can cause politicians to go against their beliefs and "compromise" in hopes that they can get elected again so that they can do good for the country their next term. These people, these Washington politicians, they don't give a rats ass about the people. They only care about getting elected. They only care about their poll numbers. These people think they are so great, that they must "compromise" in the name of getting themselves elected so that they can "help the nation". They act like without them we would all fail. Politicians don't move this country forward. Hard working Americans move this country forward. But that's how the Feinstein's and the Boehner's of the world think. This isn't an issue of Democrat vs. Republican. This isn't Conservative vs. Liberal. This is the People vs. Washington. I would rather have the first 100 people in the phonebook run this country than the clowns we have now. The politicians in this country don't think about what's best for the country. They think of what's best for them. And when we get people who don't do that, we will have a successful congress. Politicians should say "this is what I believe in..." and they should act on their beliefs. Not throw their convictions out the window the first minute they are offered votes for something they want done. Essentially, politicians decide which issues are important to them. They say, "Well it's ok for me to vote against my beliefs on bill x, because I know that I will get more votes for when I present bill y". No, it's not ok. Who are you to decide what issues are important and which aren't? Who are you to say Healthcare is more important, than say Gun's Rights? They are all equally important. Say what you want about Ron Paul, and I'm not saying this because he is a Republican, but he votes with his beliefs. He is the only congressman who, I can think of, that doesn't "compromise" in the name of getting re-elected. And he has served 12 terms. As reported by the Huffington Post (in a not so flattering article, "On November 8, 1999, Paul was the lone nay vote on a motion to suspend the rules and pass an amendment to fund the Office of Government Ethics." Give me an example of Boxer or Boehner doing something like this. Just one. Give me an example of them standing up to the parties, and not trying to vote in order to get votes on other bills, or offering to vote on other things. Congress is an economy of votes. I'm sick of it, and the American people are too. We need to stand up to our politicians. Call your congressman. Call into talk radio shows. Run for office. Don't be afraid. The American public doesn't want more politicians, they want more regular people, we need regular people.

The day I stopped believing in Santa...or not.

It was in December 1978...I was just a pup back then, having turned 7 the previous summer. I had been wanting a ''Mustang'' bike for a couple of years, asked for it in every letter to Santa. You know the one with the high handlebars, the ''banana'' seat, and the revolutionary 2 speed shifter sitting on the top bar? But mom and dad always said that Santa thought I was too little to get one.

 That year, when I wrote to him, I had a list of maybe 30 things I wanted, but I underlined the bike in red to show that it was the thing I wanted the most. I even cut out the picture of it from the Canadian Tire catalog, and glued the image to the letter. I showed my big brother, who was 15, the letter and he just laughed. He didn't say a word, just laughed.

I was hurt that my deepest conviction at the time was ridiculed that way, but I knew my brother was always looking for ways to get a rise outta me, so I went back to my room, and cried while I was sealing the envelope. I KNEW Santa existed. Forget my brother, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

 I had seen him a few years before at Uncle Jean's house....he came with a horse sled, because his reindeers were sick. He didn't fly, because only Rudolph can make that happen, but I knew it was him because he had my letter with him. He had explained to me that having a grown up bike was a BIG responsibility, and that he had seen the way I treated my trike, trying to jump curbs and what not. But he also said he was hurt to see me cry when my dad accidentally ran over it with his dump truck. So he got me the next best thing, a green machine.

Pretty sure I still have this in my mom's garage...that thing was AWESOME!

 I was so sad that dad had to go get something at the store and missed him. When dad came back, Santa was long gone.


So the next day, I had my letter ready, and gave it to mom so she can mail it. I was so excited about being big enough to get that bike I could barely wait 'till Christmas. I was gonna ride that thing until it fell to pieces. I was gonna ride it to school, ride it in snow because it had big tire thread, and I would park it in the driveway, next to the trucks, so maybe we could wash it when we cleaned the trucks. I was gonna work on it like dad works on his fleet, and maybe get a bit dirty while at it. Maybe dad will let me use his tools too!

I could already see myself with the fire truck red mean machine, impressing all the boys and girls with my ability to ride it on one wheel the length of the driveway, skidding to a stop, leaving a big black mark on the pavement. I was gonna be the absolute coolest kid on the block.


A week or so before Christmas, my dad took me to Canadian Tire, looking to get parts for our old Chrysler, and that's when I saw it. Sparkling with chrome, MY BIKE. I told dad to come and see it, see the bike Santa was SURE to get me this year, because I had been extra good. I even made my bed on occasion. I mean come on, he's GOT to have seen that!! Dad just said maybe he will, and that was it. I wanted that bike so bad.....

On the day before Christmas eve, I was snooping all over the house, as I always did. In the ''cookie cupboard'', the one over the fridge that I could only access by standing on the counter, I found a letter....MY LETTER TO SANTA!!! Mom didn't mail it, WTH?? How can she forget her son's letter to Santa?? Worst of all, she had OPENED IT!! I took it with me to my room, and hid it under my mattress. I was only gonna pull it out when I don't get gifts, to show mommy how bad she was to forget my letter.


On Christmas eve, I still went to bed early, but expecting nothing. I remember that I told mom maybe I wasn't good enough this year, and that maybe I didn't deserve anything for Christmas. Mom said that even bad kids get presents, they just didn't get what they wanted.

On Christmas morning, there were presents under the tree. A few bared my name, but none big enough to be a bike, to be MY bike. By then I was not surprised, but still felt like mom and dad failed me by not sending my letter. After dinner that night, we opened presents. NONE were on my list. My dad had something to fix in the garage, so he was gonna join us later.

The phone rang. Dad wanted me to go guide him out of the garage, because it was tight. So I put my snow suit on and headed outside. I heard the familiar rumble of the old Mack, the flatbed used to haul the steam roller around. Dad opened the garage door, and told me to watch for the bed because it was wide. He jumped in the truck, started to drive out, and then, on the bed, strapped upright......MY BIKE!!!!!  MY FREAKING BIKE!!!!!

I nearly went under the wheels trying to climb on the bed..... My dad came out, lifted me on the truck, and came on the bed with me. He helped me unstrap it, and take it down. He then looked at me and said: ''We know you found your letter to Santa. We opened it because we wanted to make sure you had what you wanted this year, because you are a good boy. You don't always listen, but we love you and we think you are a great kid.''

'' So Santa is not real dad??''
'' He is if you think he is''

Inside Liberals: We've Got To Do Something About This

As I was reading an AP article this morning (here) that talked about the possibility of Boehner not being Speaker when the House reconvenes, something occurred to me. We have a problem within the Republican party, that the Democrats don't. And until we fix that problem, we won't see a Republican supermajority or a conservative President. The problem I'm describing is the split in the Republican party. Now, I'm not talking about the split between social conservatives and libertarian conservatives, because that has been there forever. What I'm talking about is the split between the Moderates (the John Boehners and Scott Browns of the world) and the "Tea Party People" (the Ted Cruz's and the Allen Wests of the world). This is a split like never before, because they are actually fighting each other. Libertarians and Social conservatives disagreed, but they always thought if they had a united front in the name of conservatism, that the conservative moment would be extremely powerful. Now, the Tea Partiers and the moderates are publicly fighting each other in the media (not literally fist fighting, you know what I mean).  And because the Democrats are united and we aren't, the Democrats are going to get their way, until something substantial is done. This can be done one, of two ways. One, we could have another Ronald Reagan to unite all conservatives, but unless somebody new pops into the political arena (and don't say Chris Christie) we are not going to see someone like that. The other option is that all the people who essentially run the Republican Party. They all sit down and say, we are going to be a party that aligns with the Tea Party/Moderates and either get on board, or get off, because that's who is gonna get our funding. If that happens, then Republicans will start to regain power in the Senate and the executive branch. Finally, on more thing. The left realized that the word "liberal" had a negative connotation attached, so what did they do? They turned that into "progressive". "Progressive" has a positive meaning attached, so liberal politicians will call themselves "progressives" all the time. Conservatives need to do that to. The negative connotation attached to "conservative" can be dropped, if conservatives pick a new name for themselves.

Why John Kerry? Why???

A source tells AP that John Kerry will be nominated for Secretary of State this Friday, to precede Secretary of state Hilary Clinton. My dear God, why John Kerry. I think I spoke about this earlier, but the only conceivable worse pick than Kerry would be Edwards. Kerry is a boob, and shouldn't be considered for Secretary of State, or President as he was eight years ago. I'm no fan of Hilary Clinton, although I do wish she had won the Democratic Primary back in '08, but Kerry is not the man for the job. He has no experience in diplomacy, and served most of his senatorial career on the Small Business and Entrepreneurship committee. Obama, you want to take a "balanced approach", you want to "change" things up. Well then, choose someone who won't be a yes man. Choose a Condoleezza Rice. Hell, you can even choose a Colin Powell and he supported you in both your elections, earning the title of RINO. But the reason why Obama is choosing Kerry is because they cut a deal. They cut a deal during the campaign, and I remember reading an article, on how Kerry was helping Obama prep for the debates, and I remember thinking, "this isn't the last we will see of him".
